An early Attack Up book is shown on the opening Paris Streets route, reached after The Fallen by grappling toward an enemy and then using the hook above. Identify the early Attack Up book route
Return through the sewers after obtaining the Arcane Whip and look for the earlier room with the visible book that ordinary jumps could not reach. The recorded route uses an enemy to gain height, then a nearby hook to reach the book.
- Defeat The Fallen and unlock the Arcane Whip.
- Revisit the book ledge on the opening route.
- Grapple toward the enemy used to reach the higher hook.
- Attach to that hook and continue to the book.
The description does not identify a named room or exact coordinates. Keep an enemy available for the grapple rather than clearing every target before attempting that route. The pickup is an Attack Up book; it is separate from a new weapon or an Arcana Blessing.
Separate the upgrade types

An Arcana challenge is not a collectible attack statue. Likewise, obtaining a traversal whip does not automatically satisfy a requirement to collect whip-type weapons. Read the exact task wording before choosing a route.
Upgrade Holy Cross through its own challenges
After defeating The Fallen, Holy Cross becomes available. Its Works of Mercy award Blessing points for strengthening that Arcana. One task requires killing 10 enemies with a whip attack. This describes a timed grapple follow-up with Rose's equipped weapon, rather than simply using the traversal whip on an enemy.
To perform the move:
- Aim the whip at an enemy within reach.
- Throw the whip.
- Press attack quickly, before the whip connects.
- Look for Rose's changed attack animation and yellow aura.
- Make the empowered attack the killing blow when working on the kill requirement.
If the timing is late, Rose performs the ordinary move and jumps backward. That is not the same empowered attack. A stationary target gives you a clearer opportunity to learn the timing, but the task still requires a kill with the correct move.
Do not confuse the tool with a weapon family
The Arcane Whip obtained after The Fallen is used for grappling, movement, and the follow-up attack. A separate Holy Cross task asks for three different whip-type weapons. The traversal tool does not count as those three weapons.
This distinction can explain an apparently stalled challenge counter: repeatedly grappling enemies will not add new weapon entries to your inventory. Conversely, finding a whip-type weapon will not automatically complete the timed-attack kill challenge.
What the location list cannot establish
The early book reference does not establish exact coordinates, region-by-region attack-stat pickup counts, or a complete physical-attack upgrade route. The Holy Cross task is a separate spell-development option; it should not be counted as another Attack Up book location.
